Forest School

There are some things you need to sit down in a classroom to learn – but there are lots of skills we feel are best learned in the great outdoors!

We are proud to be members of Forest Schools Education. We are lucky enough to have a fantastic outdoor environment across our two sites and we take every opportunity to make the most of our extensive grounds and wooded areas.

Weekly Sessions

The philosophy of encouraging and inspiring children through outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment not only underpins our weekly Forest School sessions but also informs much of our approach to learning for rest of the week.

Developing Independence and Confidence

We want our children to learn how to work as a team, to be independent and to take risks. Our pupils absolutely love exploring our woodlands and we see their confidence increasing by leaps and bounds as they investigate and learn, improving communication and problem-solving skills immensely. We go outdoors come rain or shine – it’s our firm belief that there’s no bad weather, only the wrong clothing!

Headington Prep and Cornflower Nursery became members of Forest Schools Education in September 2014.
