Volunteering at the Cricket World Cup

Dr Porter, one of our Specialist PE teachers is volunteering at the Cricket World Cup this year. She has been instrumental in introducing Cricket to the School and instilling a passion for the game in the girls. Here is her story:

“In 2017 I was fortunate enough to be selected as a volunteer for the Womens Cricket World Cup – based at Derby. I had a fantastic time; thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the challenges.

So I applied for the Mens Cricket World Club 2019 (CWC19), made may way through the selection process and this time I am based at Lords. All very exciting! I am part of the Spectator Services team, helping everyone who is attending enjoy their day and the experience of the CWC19. Volunteers get three shifts; I am helping at the Pakistan v South Africa match on Sunday 23rd June, New Zealand v Australia on Saturday 29th June and Pakistan v Bangladesh on Friday 5th July. For the NZ v Australia fixture I am initially based at Marylebone Station pointing attendees towards Lords before moving up to Lords. If anyone is coming along and sees me, please do say hello!”
