Isla the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet

A second Headington girl has been awarded a prestigious role as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet.

The Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet is a role in which you assist the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire with his duties as the Queen’s Representative. Isla (L6) has been selected as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Oxfordshire.

The selection process involved Isla writing a 200-word citation to both Capt Anisha Charania, Headington’s CCF contingent commander, and to the board followed by online video interview.

Isla used her knowledge from her experiences in Headington’s CCF towards the questions that she was asked. Following these tough initial stages it was left up to the Lord Lieutenant himself to select his representatives from each division of the armed forces.

Isla, who is a prefect at Headington School said: “When I was informed I had been successful, I was absolutely thrilled, it is such a privilege to be considered for the role let alone awarded it, and I am hugely grateful to have been given the opportunity by Capt Charania. I am so excited for the future in this role, and look forward to the experiences I will have.”

Isla follows in the footsteps of her older sister Olivia, who was awarded the same role in 2017.
