Oxford

Known as the City of Dreaming Spires, Oxford is famous the world over for its University and place in history. For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars, and since the 9th Century an established town, although people are known to have lived in the area for thousands of years.

Nowadays, Oxford is a bustling cosmopolitan city still with its ancient university but home also to a growing hi-tech community. Many businesses are located in and around the city, whether on one of the science and business parks or within one of a number of residential areas.

Headington School and Headington Prep School are just a short walk or bus ride from the centre of Oxford and our pupils benefit from the proximity of the University in many ways including:

  • visiting speakers in school from a wide range of university departments
  • access to theatres and museums
  • cutting edge work experience opportunities
  • the ability to recruit and retain the best teachers
