Year 6 trip to the Imperial War Museum

Year 6 spent a thought-provoking day out at the Imperial War Museum on Thursday 3rd March to enrich their history topic – Second World War: a global perspective.

Pupils took part in a hands-on ‘Documentary Challenge’, in which they created their very own mini-documentaries based around primary sources found within the museum. Supplied with microphones, interactive recording devices and a clapper board, they worked collaboratively to select and research artefacts to report on.

They had the opportunity to sit inside an Anderson shelter, decode German messages and explore the life-size planes and weapons on display. The day out gave the Year 6s real insight into the topic and helped bring to life this critical period in history.
