Year 6 Leavers 2025

A host of celebrations were held to mark the final days at Headington Rye Prep for Year 6 pupils.

They took part in a special leavers’ assembly where reflections from the children were shared with the rest of the School.

Each Year 6 reflected on their strengths, something they were proud of and a memory they would take away from the prep school.

Their comments were read by a classmate before the child who wrote their thoughts came up to receive their leavers’ book and end of year gift from the School.

Prizes were awarded to pupils recognising a host of different strengths and achievements in Sport, Dance, Art, Music, Science, Maths, Drama and Academic excellence.

Special prizes were also given to recognise how well pupils’ represented the School’s core values and their pride in acting as an ambassador for the school

Alongside the assembly, the children spent breaktimes signing each other’s leavers’ books and old items of uniform they had brought in.

They also got to choose lunch for the whole school – chilli con carne and doughnuts for pudding!

Their final day at Headington Rye Prep, before Foundation Day, was spent ‘dressing to express’.

The children came into school wearing anything they felt best expressed who they are.

Some came in favourite home clothes, some in party outfits and one came as a minion – yellow from head to toe!

This was the culmination of their summer term project “All About Me” which was a self-guided research project about themselves – a journey of self-discovery and growing self-awareness.

Head of Key Stage 2 Mrs Tessa Davey said: “It was wonderful to spend some time with the pupils celebrating their years here at the Prep School. We are very proud of them and wish them all the very best for the future.”
