U11 Hockey v The Manor

Thursday 15th September

Before the match, Headington and the Manor observed a one-minute silence as a mark of respect in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.

U11A: Won 3 – 1. Player of the match: Charlie and Audrey

This was a fast paced game from the start and Headington looked a little apprehensive in the early stages going a goal down. The U11’s bounced back with a well practiced short corner routine scored by captain Audrey. As the game progressed, Headington’s confidence grew and the team began to make good long passes into the attacking circle. Two more goals followed, with Audrey and Nancy scoring to end the game with a 3-1 victory. For their first match, this was a good start – lots of positives to take from the game and lots to work on for future matches.

U11B: Lost 2-0. Player of the match: Annabel and Phoebe

This was a close game and Headington made good progress throughout the match. The defensive work was good and captain Phoebe made some good tackles to prevent The Manor entering the circle. Our attacking play was good however we needed to make sure players did not hide behind the opposition. Everyone showed great team spirit and worked hard for each other. A good learning experience in our first match of the term.
