Trip to Wicked West End

Headington music lovers were ‘Defying Gravity’ for a special West End experience.

On Thursday 4th November, 54 GCSE and A Level Music and Music Technology students all travelled to London to see a bright and sparkling evening performance of the stunning musical, ‘Wicked’. The girls were ecstatic to be able to embark on a school trip, but also to be able to travel to a bustling area of the nation’s capital with their friends.

Mr Tom Anderson, Head of Contemporary Music at Headington School said: “It was a truly fantastic evening for everyone involved, especially after the lull in live UK performances in the last 18 months. ‘Wicked’, which opened in 2003, is a cleverly constructed prequel to ‘The Wizard of Oz’ interweaving many of the famous characters we all know so well. Headington GCSE music students study it as part of their set works, but the composition itself, the technology involved, the professional singers and musicians, the dance, drama and the theatre set were all equally inspiring for the students.”
