TCS Mini London Marathon

Headington athlete Evey lined up alongside some of the finest athletes in the country to take part in an event covering the last few kilometres of the London Marathon course.

The 2022 TCS Mini London Marathon National championships were held on Saturday 1st October, the day before the main marathon. This prestigious event is combined with the London Borough championships and it was also open for 7,000 other athletes from many schools later that day.

The course covered the last 2.6km of the London Marathon with the start near Temple tube station. The athletes run past the London Eye, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace onto the Mall before crossing the famous London Marathon finish line.

In the championships there were six athletes selected from each of the 12 regions through the whole of the UK (including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). This meant that all the top athletes in the country were present to compete in this event, 72 athletes in the championship event mixed with an additional 118 athletes representing London Boroughs.

Evey was selected for the South-East region based on her U17 3,000m ranking.

This year she ran 10 seconds faster than last year at a 3:24min/km pace and finished in an amazing 25th place.
