A sixth former has swum her way to take on swimmers from all around Europe.

Ellen (U6) won the Women’s Open 100m Breaststroke at the Short Course Regionals on the 5th November 2023.

Because of Ellen’s success, she will now progress to represent the South East Region at the Luxembourg Euro Meet from the 26th-28th January 2024.

Ellen said: “I entered into the meet ranked fourth in a time of 1:10.50 for the Women’s 100 Breaststroke. During the heat swim in the morning, I swam a 1:11.50 which placed me second going into the final.

“In the final, I improved from the heats by working the weaker areas of my race and this resulted in swimming a PB time of 1:10.27. This placed me first and meant I broke my previous club record!”

Mr Alex Williams, Acting Director of Sport at Headington School said: “A huge congratulations to Ellen! I am blown away. The whole Sports Department are really pleased for Ellen as we know how hard she works in the swimming pool and it is clearly paying off!”
