St Hugh’s Cross Country Relays

Headington competed in the annual cross country event at St Hugh’s on Thursday 8th November.

In the U11 category there were 17 teams and the racing proved to be very exciting. In the A team, Eve, Lily and Abby were placed third and the B team of Nancy, Iona and Alice finished in sixth.

In the U10 age groups there were 16 teams. The U10 A team of Emma, Evie and Georgie finished in third place overall.

In the U9 team, Mariyah, Chrissy and Sophie worked very hard to a creditable fifth place overall.

Finally in the U8s, there was great excitement as Alex, Pia and Dana coped very well under pressure and with a huge hill climb, finishing in first place overall!

The afternoon finished with hotdogs which the athletes were extremely pleased to receive after a fantastic afternoon of running.

Mrs Laura Smith, Head of PE said: “It is always a great event as it is a ‘proper’ Cross Country course with hills and lots of mud! We managed to dodge most of the raindrops and were only slightly soggy. Well done to everyone who ran, especially those girls who were competing in their first competition.”
