South Oxfordshire Primary Cross Country Championships 2022

A number of Headington Prep School girls travelled to Sonning Common on a chilly Saturday Morning to race in the South Oxfordshire Primary Cross Country Championships 2022 on Saturday 5th March.

With over 50 runners overall, Headington had the largest number of competitors attending from any school.

In the Year 1 race, Jesca came home in sixth, Ariana in seventh and Sophie in ninth. In the Year 2 race, Alice sped home in second, followed by Isobel in 10th and Imogen in 13th. The Year 3s were led home by Kitty in first, Martha in seventh and Eliza in 16th – they were unlucky to miss out on the team cup by a single point! In the Year 4 race, Emma finished in fourth, Liv in 10th and Eva in 20th. The team placed third. In the Year 5 race, Abby led all the way and was followed by Lily in second place, Charlotte completed the team to finish in 20th. This meant that they were the team winners. In the Under 11s, Pia came home in second, Jessica in 10th and Xanthe in 13th and the team were placed third.

Although it is the top three places that count towards the cups, all the Headington runners should be very proud of their performances. We had NINE sets of sisters competing (including our first ever Reception runners with Sophie and Abby taking part) which looks great for the future. Overall Headington were placed second.

Miss Laura Smith, Head of PE at Headington Prep said: “It was an amazing set of results from the Headington girls and well worth getting up for on a Saturday morning! Thank you to all the parents who helped organise, complete warm ups, and encouraged every runner.”
