Singers Raise the Roof!

On Saturday 25th January 30 members of the Headington Prep Chamber Choir impressed judges and an enthusiastic audience at the Oxford Music Festival. They were performing at the event at Rye St Antony in the ’11 years and under choir’ category. The girls gave beautiful renditions of ‘Shadow -Maker’ by Cecilia McDowall, a living female composer and ‘Fire’ by Jonathan Dove, also a living composer.

They received praise for the choice of repertoire by Stephen Carleston, the adjudicator. He commented on how well-shaped their phrases were and their confident yet suitably tranquil singing. Overall they came in first place, received ‘outstanding’ in the class.

The Chamber Choir also performed beautifully at the Oxford Schools’ Charity Concert raising money for Cecily’s Fund and Embrace the Middle East.
