School Athletics Records 2021

Headington Prep has seen some incredibly impressive performances on the athletics field over the last few years and this year has been no exception. The girls have broken a number of records over the course of the last term.

Congratulations to Florence (Year 6) who set a new javelin record of 15.20 metres, beating the previous distance by just over two metres! On the same day, Verity (Year 6) added over a metre to the old shot-put record with a new distance of 10.60 metres. Then, not two weeks later, Izzy (Year 6) managed to break Verity’s record by adding nearly another metre to the old record with a new distance of 11.40 metres.

Freya set a new training javelin record for Year 5. Her amazing 14.60 metres throw sets a very high standard for her year group. She has also equalled the 75m sprint record-run in a time of 11.50 seconds. Emily (Year 5) set not one, but two new athletics records; she beat the previous year five shot put record by 10 cms to a new distance of 11.50 metres and she also broke the long jump leaping to a new record distance of 3.80 metres!

Miss Laura Smith, Head of PE at Headington Prep said: “I have been in awe of the girls and their efforts. Despite lockdown they’ve come back to compete at an incredibly high level and for that they should all be commended. Well done girls!”
