Rowers launch sporting challenge

It was a case of no school, no problem for Headington School’s Boat Club.

Several members of the elite squad went home with an ergo or a static spinning bike. To make sure they could keep their training going, Head of Rowing Mr Chris Hermes launched the first of a series of Saturday challenges.

The first challenge, on Saturday 21st March, was to travel (run, skip, jog, row, swim etc) as many meters and for as many minutes as you could in a day and upload them to a communal form -ensuring you were self-isolating where required and social distancing in all cases.

HSOBC then announced a number of winners including the best family effort, the best team effort (from girls in the club), best individual performance, best staff department and so on.

The results were outstanding with an incredible response from everyone in the Headington community. Overall the community reached a staggering 2,788,814 metres in 226 hours!

We look forward to the next Saturday Challenge.
