Prep School Strings Concert

Headington Rye Prep Strings Concert was a wonderful showcase of talent.

Head of Music Mrs Amy Evetts said: “We were absolutely delighted with the high standard of performances at this term’s Strings Concert.

“It was particularly special to see so many children taking to the stage for the very first time.

“It was truly heartwarming to see such courage and musical promise in our youngest performers.”

Highlights included Grace in Year 1, who amazed the audience by performing ‘Three Blind Mice’ on the harp after only two lessons.

The concert featured a wide variety of instruments, including harp, electric guitar, cello, and violin.

Monijier brought a lively energy to the stage with a performance of ‘Lead Boot’s on the electric guitar—a bold and modern contrast to Amelie’s charming rendition of adybird, Ladybirdon the Harp.

Head of Strings Miss Esther Hopkinson did a wonderful job organising three duets, providing musicians with a valuable opportunity to experience ensemble playing.

Performing in a group helps develop timing, listening, and collaboration skills—all essential for young musicians.

The concert concluded with a beautiful performance of Pachelbel’s ‘Canon’ on the harp by Katie, who was recently awarded a Music scholarship to Headington Rye Oxford Senior School—a fantastic achievement!

Mrs Evetts said: “Congratulations to all of our talented young musicians. We look forward to seeing you continue to grow and shine.”
