Prep Art Academy 2022-2023

This year pupils from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 were invited to attend the new Saturday Art Academy to stretch their artistic abilities and learn about all sorts of different media.

They spent the Autumn Term focusing on Art – painting and printing, a puppet show and a Christmas making workshop. There was a chance for parents to view their work during the last lesson of the term at their gallery exhibition and coffee morning at Christmas.

The Spring Term was spent studying three-dimensional objects and the girls worked on ceramics, designing and making breakfast sets and learning to use the potter’s wheel.

Currently during this Summer Term the girls are studying Art Textiles where they are looking at nature and textiles, including Shibori (tie dye), screen printing, bundle dying etc. All this work will enable them to create outfits for a mini fashion show held on the last lesson of the term. They will also be in the Foundation Day fashion show.

Mrs Rebecca Klico runs these Saturday workshops and said: “This new initiative has been a great success and really popular with the girls. They have learnt new skills and achieved some outstanding pieces of art. It has been a joy to work with them all and I look forward to furthering their knowledge again next year.”
