Musicians schooled in Alexander Technique

Some of Headington’s most gifted musicians have been given a masterclass in techniques which will help them with their performance and practice.

On 29th January, Music Scholars were treated to a workshop on Alexander Technique skills from professional bassoonist and Alexander Technique specialist, Glynn Williams.

During the practical session the girls learnt lots of useful tips for getting rid of tension before performances, relaxation techniques and ways to be more aware of their posture in order to avoid injuries during hours of music practice.

Director of Music Mr Tom Anderson said: “They have learned a fantastic set of skills and resources that will likely stay with these very talented Headington musicians for the rest of their lives.”
