Muck, Mess and Mixtures

Year 2 enjoyed a Marvellous Messy Monday where they had the opportunity to play and experiment with a variety of materials, discovering what happened when they were mixed together!

The girls arrived, ready for action, in old clothes that didn’t matter if they got mucky, and they even used their feet to explore some of the messy activities. Having taken over the Science Lab for the afternoon, they made slime, mixed jelly with shaving foam, (cooked) spaghetti with paint and investigated what happens when vinegar and baking soda are combined.

“I really liked it when my feet were buried in the paint and pasta.”

“I liked the explosions because we had to mix loads of things together.”

“I liked the jelly and the foam because it felt really funny.”

The session stimulated lots of questions and interesting observations and provided the opportunity to collaborate in teams. The girls all agreed it was a fantastic introduction to their topic, Muck, Mess and Mixtures, and was definitely worth the mess and clearing up.
