Model United Nations conference

On Saturday 24th February, 10 Headington pupils attended the Model United Nations conference at Magdalen College School.

The group had carefully prepared resolutions on topics diverse as disaster response to the Turkey/Syria earthquake and the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

All pupils had resolutions or clauses debated and were proactive in influencing the debates. Proof of this were the awards received at the end of the day.

Evelyn (U5) was ‘Highly Commended’ as Germany in the Security Council and Ellie (L6) was also ‘Highly Commended’ as Germany on the Environmental Committee. Hattie (U5) was awarded ‘Best Delegate’ as Palestine in the Political Committee. The Headington students also won ‘Best Overall Country’ at the conference as Germany – Evelyn, Charlotte (U5), Leanna (L6), Ellie and Shreya (L5).

Mr Cy Webber, Head of Business and Economics at Headington said: “I’m very proud of the girls and their commitment to the conference. The research and preparation for the event was very impressive. The awards can only demonstrate how accomplished our students are in a challenging environment.”
