Maths Week

A gifted young mathematician has been named runner-up in a challenging competition arranged as part of Maths Week England.

To celebrate Maths Week England 2021, the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme collaborated with The Equality Trust to create some exciting new resources using economic inequality data and graphs. In the activities, students consider how hand-drawn data visualisations can be used to tell a story with data and, during Maths Week England 2021, they were invited to enter our data visualisation competition.

At Headington a number of L6 maths classes got involved and entered the competition. Valerie in L6 was runner up in the Year 12/13 category – https://amsp.org.uk/news/visualising-inequality-winners

She won a book for the school library, a certificate and a printed tote bag with her winning design printed.
