Marvellous Messy Monday

Yr 2 enjoyed a very messy start to their new topic: Muck, Mess and Mixtures.

Taking turns with all the activities during the morning, pupils had the chance to see what happens when combining; bicarbonate of soda with vinegar, jelly with shaving foam and cornflour with differing amounts of water. They also looked at how many bubbles they could create using different utensils.

Mrs Joanna Haynes, Acting Head of Key Stage 1, said: “We were impressed with how the girls threw themselves into the activities and at the great collaboration we saw happening. The girls used their skills of observation to note changes in state and cause and effect. Lots of fantastic descriptive language was used as the girls talked to each other about what they were doing and noticing in each activity. They were certainly curious and collaborative learners!”
