Manor Cross Country 2021

Cross Country runners at Headington Prep impressed at a local meet.

The Manor Prep School’s annual Cross Country competition sees schools from the local area invited to run around their extensive grounds.

This year, 200 hundred runners took part, including 24 from Headington. In each school the first four runners who finish are totalled to give the school a score.

The first race of the afternoon was the U8s and what a start to the day it was, with Kitty coming home in first place, followed by Eliza in seventh and Charlotte in 17th. The U9s had a dramatic start and Emma took a heavy fall. Despite this, she got back up and managed to finish the race as the first Headington runner in 14th, closely followed by Effie in 17th and Evie in 18th. In the U10s, Abby ran a well-paced race to finish in third, with Alice in 11th and Iona in 18th. The final race of the afternoon was the U11s where Dana finished in 13th, Jess in 14th and Isabella in 15th.

Miss Laura Smith, Head of PE, said: “Considering the sheer amount of entrants, overall the Headington Prep girls did themselves proud and all ran their races in impressive times.”
