L4 Cèilidh with Abingdon Prep School

On Friday 3rd February the Main Hall was jam packed with 125 Year 8 pupils dancing to live music from a cèilidh band.

The boys from Abingdon Prep School joined Headington School’s L4 in learning five traditional Scottish group dances

Halfway through the evening a light buffet, chosen by Headington’s school council reps, provided some much-needed refreshment and more opportunities to make new friends.

When the sounds of the accordion and fiddle commenced again the sense of chaos resumed! The race was on to form new groups afresh in order to learn the next sequence of dance steps.

Mrs Dianne Bates-Brownsword, Head of Lower School at Headington, said: “judging by the smiles and laughter across the hall it was enjoyed immensely by all.

“At the end of the evening there were many tired, but happy, young people asking when will the next opportunity be for another social occasion!”
