House Dance travels to the movies

House Dance 2022 was a marvellous morning of dance action. All 10 houses performed a six-minute dance routine based on the theme ‘musicals, film and theatre’.

Judges were wowed by the talent on show. Ridley were crowned champions, scooping the highest marks in all three judging categories. Professional dancer and judge Shaun Dillon said: “Ridley performance was outstanding, a masterclass from start to finish. The energy, enthusiasm, transitions were absolute class.”

The performance was based on the movie ‘The Greatest Showman’ and finished the singalong anthem ‘This is me’. Rapturous applause echoed throughout the School as the curtain came down at the end of the performance. A Ridley spokesperson said: “We wanted to capture the magical and creative energy that comes across in the Greatest Showman.”

Mr David Cunningham, Head of Competitive Houses praised all taking part for putting on such a high quality event.

He said: “House Dance is one of the most anticipated events every year at Headington. The student leaders work very hard and show excellent leadership skills to get the whole house involved.  It allows students to collaborate with others and show their creative talents. The set, costumes and music were excellent this year.”

The judges were impressed with Cherwell and Latimer who couldn’t be separated and were awarded joint second place behind House Ridley.
