House Champions!

The first ever Headington Rye House Champions have been crowned in spectacular fashion, bringing the Spring Term to a triumphant close.

A flurry of events, from House Song and House Netball to merits awarded, provided the grand finale to an action-packed house season that also included House Photography, House Vlog, and even House Backgammon!

House Jones performed an electric rendition of Rihanna’s ‘Pon de Replay’, clinching the top prize in the fiercely contested House Song competition. The judges praised the entry for its “infectious energy, strong whole-house unity and quality vocals peppered throughout”.

With loud, enthusiastic participation and a clear sense of team spirit, Jones’s performance was the perfect example of house pride in full flow.

In House song, Porcher and King took commendable second and third places respectively, but it was Jones’s powerhouse performance that played a pivotal role in securing them the House Plate League Trophy.

Meanwhile, in the elite House Championship League, the race for the title went right to the wire.

Rendall and Tucker, neck and neck after impressive performances in House Netball and House Song, could not be separated until the very final calculation.

In a thrilling finish, it all came down to average merits per pupil — a true reminder that every single effort counts in the House system.

Tucker edged ahead with a razor-thin margin: 11.56 average merits per pupil, compared to Rendall’s 11.09.

That single point made all the difference, crowning Tucker as this year’s House Champions!
