History Trip to Russia

Twenty-nine girls and four staff enjoyed six full and stimulating days in Russia over half term.

The packed itinerary saw the group explore centuries of rich Russian history and two remarkable cities, Moscow and St Petersburg, which were connected by an overnight train.

Highlights included Stalinist cupolas designed to amplify the muted tones of the dictator and lavish gilded palaces designed to declare the unequivocal power of the Romanovs.

Trip leader and History teacher Mr Matt Wood said: “The pages of even the liveliest textbooks find it impossible to describe the power of such spaces.

“The trip was a powerful complement to the U5 and U6 syllabi.”
