Headington’s Dance Prefect has landed a place in the prestigious National Youth Dance Company.

Meghan, U6 first auditioned in May at Swindon Dance, where she is part of the organisation’s centre for advanced training.

The workshops were held across the country with hundreds of dancers aged between 16-18 taking part. After the workshops, 85 dancers were invited to the prestigious Sadler’s Wells in London to take part in a recall run by Russell Maliphant and his company dancers.

Meghan said: “I was lucky enough to be one of those invited and it was an honour to work with such a revered choreographer. We worked on various things throughout the day including improvising, learning repertoire and much more.”

She found out in August that she was one of just 30 who had received a spot in the company. Meghan begins her residency training with the company in October 2019 and will take the stage for her first tour as a National Youth Dance Company dancer in April 2020.
