Headingtonian Hockey Match
Friday 9th June saw Headington’s Hockey Club host the inaugural 1st XI versus Headingtonian Hockey Match.
It was a scorcher of an evening and Headington was excited to host a squad of alumni as they returned to the hallowed turf of the Headington astro to play a fun and competitive game of Hockey!
The aims of the Hockey programme are 1) for pupils to have Hockey as a sport for life and 2) to create more National League Hockey players. As well as being a wonderful community event, with players, alumni, parents and staff enjoying the spectacle, it was a great testament of the success of Hockey over recent years.
A number of the Headingtonians and two current 1st XI players are playing at national league level – and the fact so many girls wanted to come back shows quite clearly how these Headingtonians are still loving the sport. The final score was 6-0 to the alumnae.
Mr Williams, Head of Hockey at Headington School said: “It was a fantastic event, and one which made me very grateful to be a part of a wonderful school community. This was just the first and I hope next year we can make it even bigger and get more Headingtonian hockey players back to join us. If you are interested in getting involved next year, please get in touch with me on awilliams@headingtonschool.com.”
