Gold at Warwick Junior Fencing

A Headington fencer picked up a gold medal after competing in a Junior Fencing contest.

Margarita, L4, won the medal in Épée at the recent Warwick Junior Fencing competition.

The event was an all-electric, individual, Épée competition at Warwick School. There were 50+ competitors taking part in the competition.

Margarita had several bouts during the first part – qualifiers, and then there was a direct elimination part where she defeated all of her opponents with several challenging duels, which led her to the victory and well-deserved medal.

Mrs Jenny Douglas, fencing coach at Headington School, said: “A huge well done to Margarita. “Next, we plan to travel to the Public Schools Fencing Championship in March 2023 – a national competition, where girls will have an opportunity to fence against some of the major public schools in the country.”
