Gingerbread Advent Calendar

Sixth formers have created an elaborate ‘gingerbread house’ style advent calendar to give to a local charity.

Priya, Asha, Abby and Beth worked together on the project, with the support of Art Teacher Mr Nigel James. The girls were completing the piece of work as part of Headington’s new Community Service programme and have now donated the ‘calendar’ to Ronald McDonald House, a charity located at the nearby John Radcliffe Hospital which provides accommodation for families to enable them to be close to their children while they are being treated in hospital.

Priya and Abby said: “We chose this as our project as we thought it would be a fun way to give back to the community and get into the Christmas spirit.

“We used various materials including wood, paint, glue and fabric for the beds!

“We are very pleased with the outcome and think it turned out better than we anticipated. We are very to Mr James for his help and the opportunity we were given to do this.”

Beth and Asha added: “We loved making a gingerbread house for Ronald McDonald House and really hope it makes the families staying there have a more enjoyable Christmas.”
