FIH Pro League

On Sunday 15th June, 15 Headington Rye Oxford pupils travelled to the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park to take their place in the audience at two international hockey matches.

England’s men’s and women’s Hockey teams competed in the FIH Pro League against Germany and Argentina respectively and, despite two narrow defeats, put on an excellent display of attacking Hockey.
The travelling pupils from Year 8, 9 and 10 thoroughly enjoyed the day and were a credit to the School.

Highlights of the day included getting autographs from the England, Germany and Argentina players, the ice cream, and the chance to buy replica England playing shirts.

Headington Rye pupils were also given the opportunity to carry the FIH flag onto the pitch in front of a sold-out stadium and the Channel 4 audience before the women’s match between England and Argentina!

Thanks to England Hockey for a great day out.
