Excellent Inspection Results

Headington Prep and Senior Schools have been judged Excellent in all areas following a visit from the Independent Schools Inspectorate in January.

The team of 11 inspectors across the two schools spent three days at Headington looking at every aspect of life, speaking to pupils and staff, looking at work and visiting lessons, extra-curricular activities, form meetings, assemblies and inspecting facilities including the School’s boarding houses.

As well as receiving ISI’s highest possible judgement in all categories, encompassing academic and other achievements and personal development, the required regulatory standards were fully met.

Headmistress Mrs Caroline Jordan said: “We are absolutely delighted with the report, which we feel really reflects what it’s like being at our wonderful school. It was fantastic to read from the inspectors about how our girls viewed their experiences at Headington.

“There was a genuine feeling that they were proud to be a part of our wonderful school and that they truly thrive in our care, feeling part of and contributing to our community. “

Head of Prep Mrs Jane Crouch said: “We were moved to see how enthusiastically the girls spoke about their experiences here; they are clearly flourishing in our care. I am so proud to lead Headington Prep now and into a bright future.”

The full Prep report can be read here and the Senior report here.

Highlights from the Prep report include: “A real sense of community is apparent and relationships are strong, good-humoured, caring and sensitive” and “pupils love learning and benefit from the school’s strategies to promote their learning habits. They show a thirst for knowledge and an ambition to achieve at the highest possible level”.

Some comments from the Senior report include: “Pupils develop into resilient, independent, curious learners, who understand their own strengths and weaknesses and who understand how to improve further” and “pupils do not just accept those who are different from themselves but recognise the way that its international character enriches the School.”

The School is continuously looking to improve the educational offering for its pupils. You can read more about Headington’s five-year strategy to produce future-ready girls here.
