Community Creative Writing

On Wednesday 26th February members of the Headington’s creative writing and journalism magazines, Folio and Hotspot, worked with Year 6 and year 3 pupils at the Prep School to promote the Community Writing Challenge.

The Senior School pupils devised and delivered a super workshop, including a range of fun activities to get the younger pupils thinking about their own communities and to develop empathetic writing skills. Both magazines are running writing competitions for the Prep School pupils to get involved in this half term: Folio’s ‘Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes’ campaign will reward writing of any genre which has another person’s life as its central focus; whilst Hotspot’s ‘Community Reporting’ task enables those pupils who prefer writing in a non-fiction style to gather information about a significant person or event in their local area. We look forward to receiving the entries to these competitions at the end of this term. Winners will be announced next term and published in the magazines at the end of the year.
