Cheerleading Success

Headington’s cheerleaders raised the roof with an incredible fifth place in a national competition.

At the Future Cheer: Schools Out National Cheerleading competition, the Level 1 Senior Division witnessed an electrifying performance by the Headington team.

The team defied the odds and clinched fifth place despite facing multiple challenges in the lead-up.

Bright and early in Milton Keynes, the athletes performed a captivating routine, themed ‘Black Magic’ with a nod to Wednesday Addams. Despite the early start and a few bumps in the road, the team delivered, earning commendable scores of 8.1/8.5 for difficulty.

Cheerleading coach Mrs Sophie Welton said: “Our tight-knit squad of 15 athletes  has been a powerhouse all season, radiating positivity and determination.

“Their top-five finish is a testament to their hard work and resilience. They truly owned the mat and deserved every bit of recognition they received. (I am unashamed to admit, I fell to the floor in happiness when we hit the final pyramid!).

“A huge thank you must also go to our lovely family and friend support squad for their cheers from the front.”

Congratulations to all the athletes!
