Cartagena Trip

During the Easter break, a group of 19 Year 10 to Year 13 pupils headed to Cartagena in Spain for a Spanish language enrichment trip. Read a report from Sofia, Year 13, below.

The Cartagena trip over Easter was a brilliant way to hone our Spanish speaking skills, and to put what we learn in lessons into context.

Every morning we had intensive Spanish language lessons from a local teacher, who made the classes interactive and tailored to our level.

The afternoon and evening comprised of a broad range of activities, some of which included a traditional Bachata dance class, a visit to a museum, a boat trip around the coast of the city and a day at the beach.

The trip to the Spanish Civil War museum helped us connect the country’s past with the region we were visiting.

Staying in host families was the best way to immerse ourselves in everyday Spanish life, from learning household vocabulary to adapting to their late mealtimes!

It was so nice to have such a mixed group on the trip, where we could get closer to girls from other year groups.

It was particularly useful for the A Level Spanish students who could return to the UK and enter the oral exam in Spanish mode!
