Botanic Gardens expedition
Year 2 had a wonderful afternoon on Friday 25th April, exploring the Botanic Gardens in Oxford as part of their memorable experience to start their new topic, ‘Scented Garden’.
They were amazed by the vast variety of plants and the diversity of their habitats.
The journey began in the rainforest glasshouse, where the children were quickly surrounded by lush, tall, leafy plants that formed a canopy above them.
They also encountered several surprises, including coffee, chocolate, banana, and pineapple plants.
While this greenhouse was warm and humid, the next one transported them to a hot, arid desert environment, full of spiky cacti.
They continued their exploration around the orchard, walled gardens and riverside meadow, focusing on the various shapes of leaves and flowers, as well as their delightful fragrances.
