Biathletes compete at National contest

Two Headington athletes were in competition at the National Biathlon Championships in Nottingham on Sunday 24th November.

The weather was dull but that didn’t stop Lily (U4) and Evey (L4) performing brilliantly on the track and in the pool.

Evey was first in action on Sunday morning. She ran amazingly well for her 1,600m on the track, recording the third fastest time and shaving a whopping 14 seconds off the time she ran only a month ago. She also swam a personal best, or PB, meaning she placed 11th overall in the U13 category.

Lily completed her swim first and swam an amazing 200m, finishing seventh. On her 1,600m run, she beat her Abingdon trial time by seven seconds! Overall, Lily won sixthth place and received a certificate for her success.

Evey’s mother Ellen said: “What a fantastic result. Well done to both girls. They did brilliantly!”

Evey:
1,600m run 5:22.81
100m swim 1:21.08

Lily:
1,600m run 5:38.25
200m swim 2:21.19
