Artist workshop with Michael Brennand-Wood

On Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th November, U3 girls were privileged to take part in an art workshop led by Michael Brennand-Wood.

Mr Brennand-Wood is internationally regarded as one of the most innovative and inspiring artists working in textiles. He has explored and developed his own techniques, inventing many new and imaginative ways of integrating textiles with other media.

He started off by showing the year group some of his pieces from which they took inspiration. The young artists then set to work building their own sculptures. They used drills, hammers, pliers, hot glue guns and saws to make their mixed media sculptures. Michael mentored the girls in how to use all of the tools safely.

Art teacher Miss Anna-Marie Bush said: “We had an amazing time and loved this workshop. We can’t wait to have our pieces on display soon.”
