Academic Scholars in search of ‘solution’

The annual Academic Scholars’ Project Exhibition on Monday 30th June showcased an extraordinary display of curiosity, creativity, and interdisciplinary thinking.

The theme for the Academic Scholars’ programme this year has been ‘solution’.

Scholars created projects exploring this concept from any perspective of their choosing and presented and explained these to fellow students, parents and staff.

One project used the analogy of a plant with rotting leaves to illustrate how different branches of medicine diagnose disease, drawing parallels between root-cause analysis in botany and holistic medical care.

Another engaging highlight saw visitors taught how to count cards, a playful yet rigorous ‘solution’ to beating the odds of a casino!

History and science also combined in a plaster-cast hand inspired by those created at Pompeii, prompting visitors to consider how solutions to preserving history rely on both artistic skill and chemical science.

Engineering enthusiasts were captivated by a to-scale model of a space shuttle, meticulously built to demonstrate solutions for space exploration.

Coinciding once again with Sports Day – and illuminated by face paint and accessories in support of house teams – the exhibition was buzzing with questions, debates, and discussions.

Parents, staff and pupils were inspired by the confident explanations and demonstrations, seeing how inter-disciplinary knowledge and thinking can be harnessed in pursuit of solutions to a myriad of issues.
