Aardman Animations Visit

Budding artists, animators and photographers were in for a treat with a special day of workshops from an award winning animation company.

Jim Parkyn, senior model maker from Aardman Animations lead a day of workshops for Fine Art and Lens Media students on Thursday 16th November.

Pupils from U4 through to U6 watched screenings of some of Aardman’s most popular films and then learnt how to sculpt their very own ‘Shaun the Sheep’, ‘Feathers’ (the penguin) and ‘Gromit’ (the dog).

Mrs Tova Dalgleish, Director of Art said: “It was fascinating to hear from Jim all about the many films, series and adverts he has worked on, including ‘Chicken Run’, ‘Creature Comforts’ and ‘Pirates’.

“This gave us an amazing insight into what goes on behind the scenes from an animator and model maker.

“I hope that this experience has inspired some of our students to consider a career in this ever expanding industry.”
