Overseas Applications

One of Headington’s strengths is its rich and diverse community. With around 30 different nations represented across the School, both day girls from cosmopolitan Oxford and the surrounding areas and boarders from all over the world, we celebrate and welcome the contribution made by each and every girl who joins our school.

Headington welcomes direct applications from international candidates for places at the school and we encourage you to visit us here in Oxford, if you can, to appreciate our wonderful facilities and the enriching academic environment we have created. Staff from Headington also attend events overseas and we would be delighted to meet you in person at any of these events to discuss your daughter’s academic aspirations. As a student visa sponsor, we are delighted to welcome girls from all over the world into our community. Please note that we are only able to sponsor student visas for girls, who are full boarders, into our Senior School, aged 11-18.

There is no requirement to use an educational agent/consultant to apply to Headington unless English is not your first language and you would be more comfortable with translation assistance from within your own country.

Entrance examinations can be taken either here at Headington School, or within your home country through the offices of the British Council, an open Cambridge Examination Centre, or with one of our nominated educational representatives should you choose to use one. Fees for invigilation services overseas, regardless of facilitator, are common, as entrance examinations can take up to four hours to complete. Parents are encouraged to investigate the options well in advance of the entrance examination window and seek advice from admissions@headington.org where necessary.

In terms of costs, parents should expect to pay the relevant application fee directly to Headington and a subsequent invigilation charge to the chosen facilitator (unless your daughter takes the entrance examinations here at school, where no invigilation charge applies). No other costs should be incurred prior to offer unless you choose to purchase other services offered by educational consultants such as tutoring. Application fees for overseas candidates are £150 for Prep age pupils (Nursery to Year 6) and £250 for Senior School and Sixth Form overseas candidates.

If you accept the offer of a place at Headington, a deposit is payable, along with a National Health Service (NHS) surcharge and fees in advance. Entrance Examinations for students wishing to join Headington at 11+ (Year 7) upwards involve online assessments in English and Maths, a further written English assessment, an EAL test (where necessary) and an interview. Sixth Form candidates also have an interview with a member of the academic team specializing in one of the subjects they wish to study at A Level. Pupils wishing to join the Prep School from Year 3 upwards take computer adaptive assessments in Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, a written task in English and an EAL test (if required). They will also have an interview.
