Artsmark Gold Award

Headington Rye Prep School has been presented with an award marking its commitment to arts and cultural education.

Presenting the School with the Artsmark Gold Award, representatives from Arts Council England, which accredits the award, praised Headington Rye Prep’s commitment to placing creativity at the heart of the curriculum and encouraging pupils to embrace opportunities provided to them.

The assessors said: “The range of opportunities, connections and collaborations you have been able to deliver through the course of your Artsmark journey has been impressive and has clearly benefited your students and staff alike.”

They highlighted the School’s Primary Connect concert programme, working with local primary schools, along with opportunities given to pupils to exhibit and celebrate their work, such as Young Art Oxford, GSA Choir of the Year and the RYSA young artist’ exhibition.

They said: “It is very clear that you have a fundamental belief in the value of the arts and creativity to the development and opportunities of your young people and your school community, and this shows through the way in which creativity is embedded throughout your work.

“The wide range of activities, workshops, visits, exhibitions, competitions and performances you provide to your students is very impressive, and speaks to a school that is fully committed to giving their students the best arts experience they can.”

The Gold Award is valid for two years.
