Prep School Talent Show

Friday 27th June saw the much-anticipated return of the Prep School Talent Show.

After two weeks of very competitive auditions, 16 acts from Year 1-6 prepared to take the stage for the final round.

Performing for judges Mrs Amy Evetts (Head of Music), Mr Richard Kidd (Drama teacher) and Mrs Vicky Horrobin (Head of Drama), the contestants showcased skills from dancing to drama and from comedy to cup dancing.

The judges were blown away with the confidence shown by all the performers, especially younger students such as Harriet from Year 1, who performed a wonderful dance to music from Mulan, winning herself the Key Stage 1 category award.

The afternoon was hosted by the Arts Ambassadors, who have been planning the event since the Autumn Term.

They introduced each act to huge cheers from the audience, and even supported with the technical side of the show, learning valuable arts skills in the process.

Ms Bella Brown, Music teacher, said: “The Arts Ambassadors were the ones who came up with the idea for the talent show, and they have done a wonderful job supporting their peers and staff to make it happen today!”

Alongside Harriet, the other category winners were comedian Phoebe (lower Key Stage 2) and singers and dancers Kitty, Gwen, Lucy and Tamsin (upper Key Stage 2).

However, the overall crown went to Jessie and Izz from Year 4, who wowed the crowd with a rendition of ‘Ex-Wives’ from the musical ‘Six’. What a wonderful way to celebrate the arts at Headington Rye!
