Year 8 Residential Trip Croyde
On Monday 16th June, Year 8 pupils set off to Croyde in North Devon to enjoy three days of camping, surfing, coasteering, beach volleyball and headland hiking.
The team of staff accompanying the girls included Headmistress Mrs Caroline Jordan, who was inspired by pupils to throw herself into each of the activities alongside the intrepid campers.
Highlights included Mrs Jordan’s surfing, the Tuesday night talent show at the campsite, and an average daily step-count off not far off 40,000.
The impromptu arrival of an ice cream van that must have trebled the daily turnover in about fifteen minutes by virtue of bumping into 83 ravenous Year 8s on their way back from the beach was also gratefully received.
Head of Year 8 Mr Alex Rogers said: “The weather was glorious, the girls were fantastic and there wasn’t a phone in sight!”
The journey back was also enlivened (at least on Coach 1) by the raucous medley that took the passengers from “Shine Jesus Shine” to “Mamma Mia” and back again, via a suitably diverse array of genres. Till next year …
