Awards in Finance

Eighty-four girls from Year 10 have passed the Level 2 Award in Financial Education, accredited by the London Institute for Banking and Finance.

The success was the culmination of a year-long elective course, delivered in Year 10 alongside the GCSE curriculum.

Amongst the 84, Cheryl (93%), Heidi (90%) and Darya (90%) achieved the three highest marks in the 2024/25 cohort.

Darya said: “This course was great to go home and talk to parents about money matters.

“My parents were surprised by how much I had learned.”

Heidi said: “I think there are so many important life skills in this course.  I feel much more knowledgeable about the real-world.”

Assistant Head, Mr Vlachonikolis said: “This is the third year that Headington Rye has offered the finance elective in Year 10 and it has been the most successful yet: 96% of the pupils achieved a ‘merit’.

“Next year, we anticipate another 70 or so pupils will elect to take the course.  We will, however, have a different accreditation body and I hope to be able to announce that in the coming weeks.  There is some exciting news to come.”
