Creative and Performing Arts

Creative Arts

If your daughter is a budding artist, photographer, fashion designer or film-maker, there are a host of different lunchtime and after-school clubs to provide her with inspiration, exciting resources, tuition and guidance.

In 2021, our Art Department moved into their new home the Creativity and Innovation Centre: The Hive.

This purpose-built facility houses a range of rooms to provide girls the chance to experiment and work in a huge variety of different media. It is also home to a state-of-the-art lecture theatre and beautiful open plan exhibition space, the Emma Watson Gallery.

Dance

Dance is very popular at Headington. With a wide range of different clubs, classes and companies to join, there is something for everyone – from those who are just getting to grips with moving to music to those who are experienced dancers and are eager to pursue their passion beyond Headington.

We offer a range of different disciplines, from Ballet to Street Dance, with the opportunity to train for competitions and performances on a professional stage.

Each year our dancers from both Headington and Headington Prep School put on a fantastic show titled ‘Mind, Body and Soul’ which is an exhibition of our girls’ broad range of talent.

Drama

Whether your daughter’s passion is getting up on the stage in front of an audience, the logistics of putting on a show, or the elaborate and challenging art of costume making, we can give her the opportunity to be involved in high-quality productions with impressive production values.

Our clubs are very popular and each year we run a large number of productions, aimed at different age groups, with an open audition process.

Here are some images from our latest winter production, Chicago, where our young actresses took on the challenge of the award-winning acting, singing and dancing spectacular.

Music

We have some wonderfully gifted musicians at Headington – along with a host of girls who absolutely love making music at all levels.

With around 20 different ensembles, 22 different instruments taught, regular concerts in and out of school and more than 350 music lessons taking place each week in our Music School, we offer opportunities for all young musicians to shine, whatever their instrument or level.
