Battle of Bands
On Thursday 12th June, six groups took part in the much-anticipated ‘Battle of the Bands’, an annual event for musicians to perform a song of their choice in front of an enthusiastic crowd of pupils and teacher judges.
This year’s judging panel consisted of Mr Jason Morris, Mrs Rachel Bowen and Mr Iganzio Pompeo, all of whom are avid musicians.
This year, the audience were delighted to welcome three bands from Year 7: ‘The Jazzy Funky Pop Cats’, ‘GalXie’ and ‘No Name’; a band from Year 8: ‘Cosmic Travellers from the Planet Jazz’, a band from Year 10: ‘Serenade’ and a band from Year 12: ‘Panther’.
There was some fantastic musicianship on display across the board with renditions of Stevie Wonder through to Taylor Swift.
The performers were incredible and dealt with any technical issues very professionally.
In the end, winners of the Lower School category were GalXie, and winners of the Middle/Upper School category were Panther.
Director of Performing Arts Mrs Aimee Jamison said: “We look forward to welcoming all the bands to play on the Foundation Day stage in July.
