French Enrichment Day

Girls from Headington’s Sixth Form visited locations around Oxford’s city centre to enrich themselves in the city’s French offerings.

Here is the write-up of the trip written by Adelle (L6) and Alice (L6):

On Friday 1st March 11 Sixth Form linguists headed into Oxford for a French enrichment day.

During the trip, we took part in a French workshop about cinema at Alliance Française d’Oxford, where we were provided with a delicious breakfast of croissants and gluten-free biscuits!

The workshop consisted of discussions, writing, Kahoot quizzes and even watching some French film trailers. It was a great opportunity for us to deepen our knowledge and understanding of French cinema. After this, we walked down to the Old Bookbinders in Jericho where we enjoyed fantastic two-course meals from their French menu, our top choices being Coq au Vin and Steak Haché. The highlight of our trip was, without a doubt, seeing Headingtonian Emma Watson sitting at the table next to us! We then headed to the Ashmolean Museum and were given a tour around different areas in the museum. Our tour guide spoke to us in French about various objects in the museum that have links to France, such as pre-historic objects and impressionist paintings. It was very insightful delving into parts of France’s history and culture!
