Tax efficient giving

Gift Aid

It is worth remembering that, as a registered charity, Headington is able to reclaim tax on your donation if you make a Gift Aid declaration stating that you are a UK tax-payer. There is no additional cost to you making a Gift Aid declaration.

In addition, if you pay the higher rate of income tax (i.e. earn more than £34,600) you can currently reclaim £23 on every £100 you donate.

Donating Shares

Making a donation of shares can be a very tax efficient way of supporting Headington School.

If you donate shares you can get income tax relief from this donation. For example, if you donate £1,000 worth of shares, and you are a higher-rate tax payer, you will get £400 tax relief.

In addition, you do not have to pay any Capital Gains Tax on shares you donate to Headington.

Gifts in your Will

Gifts made in your Will to Headington School are tax exempt. These bequests are deducted from the net value of your estate, thereby reducing the amount which is liable for Inheritance Tax.
